Software Developer

I've been in the I.T industry for the past 14 years as a Software Developer, and in my roles as a Software Developer I gained vast experience with multiple technologies and tool sets that have equiped to advance in any position granted once the opportunity arises.

I have been in the service delivery environment from the beginning of my career in 2010, supporting, maintaining and developing on a ITSM application called BMC Remedy.

As a BMC Remedy Developer at Standard Bank South Africa my role entailed creating or enhancing back and front-end functionality based on the requirement requested. Maintain current integrations with other applications where it be through Web Services, Java API, or ftp file transfer and processing of data within those files.

In 2012 I moved to MTN, where I was given the opportunity to Web Develop on some of their internal web applications, which is where I started web development professionally and in my spare time. I have always had a passion for coding thus it was seemless to do. A couple of years after I began freelancing, which ended up doing on a full-time basis when my contracted ended. I have since been keeping up with the latest technologies and frameworks.

A big aspect in my roles was to provide meaningful reports to users and managers, which required a lot of data analysis and a lot of SQL development. I've worked with multiple DB's such as MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle and many more, where I gained experience creating/editing stored procedures, triggers, functions on the DB. Additional to that was fine tweeking Reports tools, such as SAP BO, to cater for customer requirements and performance enhancements. I have also worked with ETL tools such as Pentaho,in order to extract, transform and load data in to our system taking into consideration how the data is received and uploaded.

I graduated from Belgium Campus, an ITversity based in Pretorea, where I majored in Software Development. While I was studying I had already obtained a full-time work which helped me to further hone in my skills as a developer. When not at work I'm usually working on a new project from home which could be anything to updating one of my sites.

My job involves doing what I love, Developing, enhancing or maintaining websites/applications, enter-acting with users and making sure that their issues are solved and developing fantastic content management systems (CMS). I spend a lot of time learning new techniques and help other people learn development(web/application) through school assignments or projects that they may be working on in my community.

I consider myself a Software Developer as I have excelled in not Application Development, but also SQL Development, building vast amounts of queries that refine data to fit business and user requirements. I have great problem solving skills which has seen me resolve some of the complex of issues, making my system analysis skills on point.
